Read Magazine Advertisements Aloud. This is a simple thing you can do any time of the day. Look around you. Chances are you will not have to try very hard to find at least a dozen magazines scattered about. Read the advertising copy of the ads out loud as if you were performing the voice over in a studio. Attempt several versions with each article. Build your delivery adding intensity and urgency with each take.

Write and Perform Mock Commercials. This is an activity that is beneficial, as it will help you think like a copywriter of a commercial. Try to create a script that effectively communicates a call to action of an imaginary product. Start by writing 15 second commercials. Work your way up to 30-second spots. Once you understand this portion of the process you will become more in sync with the client and production staff. Record your commercial and critique yourself upon playback.

Listen to Radio Commercials While Driving. Take note of each and every radio ad. Study the delivery and speech patterns of the voice over actor. Pay attention to voice fluctuations and pauses of the announcer. Turn the radio off and immediately try to recreate as much of the ad as possible. Make an effort to improvise if you cannot remember the entire script. This will teach you to quickly communicate the product's message.
